What is the Highland Residents Association?
The Highland Residents Association is there to support and speak up for (permanent) residents of the Highland Council area in Scotland. It is independent but affiliated to the UK wide National Residents Association (see https://www.nationalresidentsassociation.co.uk/) .
The purpose of the Association is to work together for the benefit of residents in the area covered by the Highland Council. It is open to both tenants and homeowners and it will
– represent residents’ views to landlords and local authorities
– campaign for or against planned developments
– hold authorities to account as necessary
– challenge antisocial behaviour
– campaign for shared community spaces and facilities, like allotments, play parks, village halls and toilets
– support thriving, sustainable local economies and communities
Membership is free but requires a form of identification that includes proof of residency. The Association is non sectarian and non-party political. Only individual membership is available. Membership of other organisations is not a barrier but must be declared in all cases to avoid possible conflicts of interest.
